Our Story

This started at my kitchen table

I'm Arisha — a homeschooling mom who fell in love with making things by hand. Wild Root Collective grew out of the space between read-alouds and nature walks, from a simple desire to create products with more intention and less waste.

Why I do this

I believe the things we use every day should be made with care — not churned out by the thousands in a factory I’ll never see. Every product I make is mixed, poured, and packaged by hand in small batches because I want to know exactly what goes into it, and I want you to know too.

Wild Root Collective is about showing up — at local markets, community festivals, and neighborhood events — to meet the people who use what I make. It’s about building real relationships, not just making sales. And it’s about doing this in a way that creates less waste, from plastic-free shampoo bars to glass jars I hope you’ll rinse and reuse.

My kids watch this business grow alongside them. They see what it looks like to dream something up, work hard, and share it with your community. That’s the heart of Wild Root Collective — a family, making things by hand, for families like yours.

A Forest Apothecary

Like an old-world herbalist's shop nestled in the woods, we blend botanical wisdom with modern craft. Every ingredient is chosen for its purpose — marshmallow root for slip, rice protein for strength, moringa for antioxidants.

A Handcrafted Farmers Market Booth

You'll find us at the markets and festivals you love, where you can taste a drink, smell a shampoo bar, and ask us anything about what's inside. We believe in face-to-face connection over faceless transactions.

A Sustainable Wellness Company

From our Mason Jar Club refill program to our plastic-free shampoo bars, sustainability isn't a marketing angle — it's how we've always done things. Less waste, more intention.

A Community Gathering Space

Wild Root is built around the people we share it with. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular who brings their own jar, you're part of something — a community that values nature, wellness, and authentic connection.

Why I Started Wild Root Collective

Wild Root Collective started long before I ever thought about selling a single product.

Growing up, my hair was damaged, difficult to manage, and never seemed to grow the way I wanted it to. Over the years, I tried just about everything I could find — salon products, drugstore brands, handmade soaps, natural products, and countless shampoos and conditioners that promised results. Some worked for a little while. Others left buildup, dryness, irritation, or simply stopped working over time.

Eventually, I realized I needed to take a more intentional approach. I started learning about ingredients, creating my own oils, and experimenting with shampoo bars and conditioners that were designed for what my hair actually needed. Along the way, I learned that healthy hair wasn't just about products. It was about understanding what worked for your unique hair, creating simple routines, and choosing ingredients with purpose.

Then came my daughter. Her hair is completely different from mine. While I was learning how to care for an oily scalp and dry ends, I was also learning how to care for beautiful curls that needed a completely different kind of nourishment and attention. Once again, I found myself back in the kitchen experimenting, learning, and creating.

What began as a personal journey turned into a passion. I've worked many different jobs throughout my life, but creating products was different. I wasn't doing it to start a business. I was doing it because I genuinely wanted to learn a skill that could help my family. I wanted to create products I felt good about using on myself, my daughter, and the people I love.

Over time, friends and family started asking for the products I was making. They wanted to know what ingredients I used, why I chose them, and how they worked. That's when I realized this journey might be able to help other people too.

Today, every product is still created with that same intention. I believe people deserve to know what they're putting on their hair and skin. I believe ingredients should have a purpose. I believe products should be made with care, not just manufactured for the sake of selling more.

Wild Root Collective isn't about perfection. It's about learning, creating, and sharing what I've discovered along the way. It's about helping people make more intentional choices for themselves and their families.

Thank you for being part of that journey.
